Turkey Italian Sausage (Slow Cooked)

After an eventful “Sunday Funday”, who wants to come home after a day of relaxation only to prepare dinner for the family? Sometimes, I just don’t feel like it! That is why I started my own little tradition….Slow Cooker Sunday!! The extra effort in the morning to throw a few things together to toss into my Crock Pot is well worth it after a day of exhausting fun. Coming home to the glorious smell alone puts a smile on my face! The meals are normally very simple since it’s a one pot deal. You just chop and layer the ingredients accordingly and “Voila”! You have an amazing meal waiting for you later. πŸ™‚

I have something yummy on my menu this weekend!! And since this recipe serves more than two people, we will get a few lunches out of it during the week. Anything from the Crock Pot is always better a few days later since it gets to marinate in the scrumptious sauce and juices even longer! So get your ingredients NOW so you can whip this up on Sunday!

Turkey Italian Sausage (Slow Cooked)

Ingredients:

8 Turkey Italian Sausages (I use 3 Hot; 5 Mild because the spicy sausages give a nice flavor to the entire pot!)
1 lg Red Bell Pepper
1 lg Green Pepper
1 Vidalia Onion
1 White onion
1 jar Organic Pasta Sauce
1/4 cup Marsala Wine (secret weapon) πŸ˜‰
Freshly ground Black Pepper
Dash Garlic Powder
Coconut Oil

Rub your grill pan with coconut oil and brown the sausages; create some nice grill marks!

Mix the pasta sauce, marsala wine, pepper, and garlic powder in the bottom of your Crock Pot.

Arrange the sausages in the sauce.
Top with the sliced veggies; toss around a little to coat with a tiny bit of the sauce.
Put on the lid and cook on low for 6 hours.

Serve on a whole wheat roll or over brown rice and enjoy!

PS. Brands I personally like!
