Have you ever read a self help book? Although many people poke fun at this section of Barnes & Noble, I’m a big fan. Sometimes they can be repetitive, but if you find the right one it can be just what you need.
Life can be bumpy. Sometimes you may come to a crossroad and need a little guidance. Friends and family can be a big help, but if it’s too personal you could be stuck. You may even just want to read a stranger’s opinion on the matter. Whatever the reason may be, don’t ever be embarrassed for seeking a little inspiration or motivation. More people should try it!
I’m sure you have come across books or articles about how to get motivated; whether it be to become rich or transform your body. A common piece of advice would be to stick a motivational quote to your mirror, your computer background, your fridge, or any other place that you may visit often throughout the day. That is great advice!
Here are a few of my personal favorites:
You could also write your ACTUAL goals down and post it everywhere as a reminder. That even makes things more personal!
Now here is where is get’s tricky.
If it’s a new and improved physique you are after, remember to be realistic with yourself. Time and time again, I ask people what their goals are….and they whip out a picture and say, “I wanna look like HER!”
Are you a B cup?
Are you 5’11?
Is this your bone structure?
Oh….and so many more questions until they get the hint.
Please don’t set yourself up for disaster! It’s discouraging and unfair.
You have lived in your body for a lifetime! Literally!! Be realistic; get to know yourself. Take you frame into consideration. You can not change your bone structure! Be your own personal success story, not someone else’s. Carefully envision yourself at your happiest moment. What do you see? How do you feel? What are you doing? That is what should be on your mind each and every day.
Write down all of the things you LOVE about yourself in BIG letters!! In slightly smaller letters (just because ;)), write down the things that need improvement. Write down your goal weight, size, and activity. The activity part is very important! Maybe it’s to be able to go skiing again! Or strut your stuff in a bikini! Whatever it may be, make sure the vision is purely yours! Be true to yourself…..create a solid path and GO! You can get there. Try. Believe in yourself. Impress yourself. But most of all, set obtainable goals…don’t head toward a mirage.
If you MUST have a visual of someone else….thats normal too. Just be sure to find a motivational snapshot of someone with characteristics similar to your own!
Women are beautiful in all shapes and sizes!
The key is to find your body type and work with it until you feel comfortable, happy and HEALTHY!
If you do choose a celeb, be sure to use the photo as guideline ONLY! These women have many professionals making them appear flawless for the camera. It can be an unrealistic choice….so keep in mind that if you have a TEAM to pamper you each day, you would look just as good…no, BETTER!
So get on it! Find literature, visuals, or anything else that gives you a little push each day to achieve everything that you dream of!
….and as always…
“Take the first step to a healthy, happy YOU!”
